Learn more

For four decades, Ginny Gonzales has used her accounting, auditing, and legal skills to help with integrity, workers, families, and businesses.

Since 2017, Ginny has been a Certified Public Accountant. Her career roles include auditor, accountant, tax preparer, controller, and paralegal.

She was an IRS Field Auditor from 1984 to 1992. At IRS, Ginny specialized in developing audit techniques for cash businesses.

Ginny invented and promulgated IRS’s method of auditing laundromats. It was based on water consumption. At the IRS she was known as The Laundromat Queen. Her method is now used throughout the industry to value laundromats when they are bought and sold.

She was an Adjunct Professor of Tax and Accounting at both City College of San Francisco and Golden Gate University.

Ginny has worked as a paralegal since 1978.  She has worked for attorneys doing corporate, real estate, employment and tax law.  She has worked for lobbyists and litigators.

Ginny was paralegal for her now deceased husband, Thomas Gonzales, in his lawsuit against the Long Beach Citizens Police Complaint Commission. They won that case in 2018. Ginny has won every employment case she has ever worked on.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and four master’s degrees in accounting, federal tax, governmental accounting, and financial planning.

Her master’s degrees are from the University of Southern Mississippi, Golden Gate University, and Rutgers University.  Two master’s degrees were on full scholarship.

A 30-year Long Beach resident, Ginny has been deeply involved in the community.  She is a member of SEIU 2015. She served as a commissioner on the Long Beach City’s Citizens Advisory Commission on Disabilities. She served in various leadership roles at the Long Beach Chapter of the California League of United Latin American Citizens (California LULAC).  She regularly attends neighborhood association meetings in District 9.

Ginny lives in North Long Beach with her daughter Bernice Olivia, dog Rosie, and cat George Pedro—and when she’s not working, she takes baking classes at Long Beach City College. Baking is her favorite pastime.
